We have our blackout this morning, starting exactly at 8 am, or 8:02. That’s the time we’re about to leave home to Kdg. This morning, only one kid goes to the Kdg, while the other has her morning lessons with the therapist.
The way is 15 minutes walk (or 30 minutes stroll with the kid), near the main road. As we were walking, I had the impression that the whole street has no electricity. The blackouts, they are smart, in a way. They turn off the electricity in groups, we have 6 groups, they’re called 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2. Ours is the latest. I don’t know why it’s not just 1-to-6, but anyway. It’s entirely possible that our building is one group, and the building you’re facing with your windows is another group, and so while you have electricy they don’t, and vice-versa. People get angry at that, but I think that’s a smart design, if that part is deliberate. Because theoretically, if you need electricity very badly, you can go visit your neighbours, or even if you don’t know anybody there, you can get to know them, if you’re in need.
This morning, I had this impression that the whole street is electricity-less. As we have a couple of shops and pharmacies across our way, they had their generators working already. I guess half of the buildings aren’t in our group, so it could be just an impression of a total-blackout. But I still had it.
Also, the kindergarden is in the same group as we are, so when we arrived there at 8:50, they had no electriciy either. (It’s planned to come back at 10 am.)
It’s 9:20 am, and the plan for the day that we’ll have electricity back at 10 am, with no outage from 13 to 15.
In the morning, we had one lamp depleting its battery. Almost all of the lamps are USB-C, which turned out a very hassle-free way of charging. But some old lamps that I had before, they’re USB-mini, less hassle-free. Still, in any case, having many laps with batteries, managing them is just painful, if you want to have a guaranteed work when there’s a blackout. I manage that with having more than we need, so if one lamp is depleted, I can just take another, and put the deptleted one on the charge immediately.
